As we conclude February, I can report that it has been a busy time at Temple – both with community
events and board activity. We have had new programming this year, including the well attended
Shabbat Shirah Friday night song session and potluck dinner (with another coming up this Friday!). The
Better Together program for teens and empty nesters continues to be successful with
monthly gatherings. Also, I hope many of you participated in the recent meet and greets for our interim
rabbi candidates. 

We have a number of exciting programs coming in March - the Pizmon group for Purim, the Party
Palooza spring fundraiser and then hosting Friday night services for the Pacific District Sisterhood
Convention.

The board of directors has been working to strengthen its functioning and leadership. In early February
we held a retreat facilitated through the URJ by Alyse Kirshen. We discussed board and leadership roles,
sacred partnerships and a broad range of topics, including communication to membership, engagement,
and financial stability. We formulated goals and created an action plan for this next year. The three key
action plan items are:

1. Communication with membership. We are planning a listening campaign. We will build on the
virtual sessions for programming and Mission and Vision work that we conducted last year. We
will likely do this in coordination with our incoming interim rabbi and utilize small group
sessions.

2. Financial stability. We plan to review our dues structure and work on other revenue streams in
order to continue to strengthen the financial stability of the temple.

3. Board structure and roles. In addition to creating stronger onboarding processes for new Board
members, we are preparing resources to educate and provide clarity on Board roles and
responsibilities.

All of us on the Board continue to work on your behalf and the mission of our Temple. We enter March
with continued hope and confidence regarding our Temple community and its future. As always, we
welcome any feedback to better build our community together.
