Youth Engagement Coordinator

Temple B’nai Torah, a URJ congregation in Bellevue, WA seeks an engaging, energetic, and responsible individual to help oversee and grow our teen youth program. The Youth Engagement Coordinator works as part of a collaborative team responsible for the overall implementation of education and Reform Jewish learning and programming across all age groups.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership training to BTY youth group board, and facilitate their success in planning and implementing social, cultural, and community service events.
  • Attend NFTY retreats and encourage TBT participation 
  • Plan and run social programs for kids in Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • Coordinate teenage assistants (madrichim) who help in our Religious School program on Saturday mornings
  • Coordinate teen program on Tuesday evenings
  • Teach in Religious School as appropriate
  • Coordinate our B’Mitzvah program and serve as a touchpoint for families throughout the whole b’mitzvah process
  • Find opportunities to engage the unengaged 
  • Help staff experiential programs like our Family Retreat and 8th Grade Los Angeles/San Francisco trips

Communication:

  • Maintain consistent communication with Director of Education and lay leaders as necessary
  • Establish regular contact (via phone, email, and social media) with children and parents
  • Develop promotional materials for events
  • Cultivate positive, consistent relationships with our children, teens, and their parents
  • Work with other local Jewish community youth groups to foster relationships

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills, and ability to prioritize
  • Driven and motivated self-starter
  • Previous experience working in Jewish youth engagement through teaching, youth advising, camping, or other relevant settings
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the Reform Movement
  • Sensitivity to individuals with special needs, and experience creating inclusive environments
  • Skilled at event planning and logistics
  • Computer and social media savvy

SALARY: This is a 9-month position for 32 hours/week. Starting salary $28,000 - $30,000. Commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefit package.

All Candidates must be fully vaccinated and be able to pass a background check.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.

Shabbat Religious School Teacher

Our PreK-8th grade students meet on Shabbat mornings from 9:30am - 12pm. Teachers and madrichim are expected to be on site from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Including preparation time, teachers typically work 4-5 hours a week. We are looking for teachers who:

  • Have a passion for Jewish life and learning
  • Love working with a diverse community of children
  • Find joy in helping kids find purpose and meaning in their Jewish identity formation
  • Love collaborating and thinking outside the box of traditional Jewish education

We are currently hiring for the following programs:

  • PreK - 2nd Grade
  • 3rd-5th Grade Specialist Teachers*
  • 6th-8th Grade
  • Hebrew through Movement Specialist

*Special talents or interests are welcome! We are looking for teachers who can teach Jewish values and rituals through the lens of art, science, food, the outdoors, and more. Got an innovative idea? Let’s talk about it!

We pay $23-$30/hr depending on experience. We also pay for class preparation time and professional development.

Weekday Hebrew Teacher

Our 3rd-6th grade students learn Hebrew in small groups of no more than 5 students. We work with the schedules of teachers and families to offer in-person and virtual classes during the week. Our groups are mixed grades and students are placed by level. In-person classes meet for 1 hour and virtual classes meet for 45 minutes. 

We are looking for people who:

  • Love collaborating and thinking outside the box of traditional Jewish education

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

  • In-Person (at TBT in Bellevue) classes
  • Virtual classes

We pay $25-$30/hr depending on experience. We also pay for class preparation time and professional development.

We currently use tradition Hebrew textbooks and moving towards a full transition to the #OnwardHebrew sound-to-print model.
