High Holidays | 5784

Welcome to the High Holidays at Temple B’nai Torah!

We’re so glad you’re here and we’re excited to spend this most important of seasons with you.

As we welcome the new year, we turn toward the future and new possibilities within our own lives, and as a community…we hope for goodness, for connection, courage, and resilience. This spirit of possibility is infused into all of our holiday services. Beginning with Selichot and continuing through Atzeret-Simchat Torah, our congregation can look forward to many wonderful opportunities to discover meaning, as we gather as a congregational family.

You’ll recognize familiar and favorite services and activities from year’s past, as well as new additions, including innovative changes and exciting musical guests. We offer meaningful programming for all ages, with different types of services and ways to engage: be it in our sanctuary, on livestream, outside in nature, or with the whole family.

We can't wait to see you!

A Message From Our Rabbis & President

Welcome to 5784! Beginning with Selichot and continuing through Atzeret-Simchat Torah, our community can look forward to many wonderful opportunities to discover meaning, as we gather as a congregational family. While admission to High Holiday services is for members, guests, and those who have purchased tickets, our congregation is open to all who wish to join us, regardless of one's financial situation. Just let us know if there is a family member or friend you would like us to invite to join our congregation.

While we recognize this is a year of transition, you will find many familiar aspects. We continue to offer meaningful services and programs for those of all ages–from the youngest to the most senior amongst us. A special treat for us will be the addition of Cantor Kay Greenwald, an accomplished cantor who served for many years at Congregation Beth Am, in Palo Alto, CA and–most recently–as the Placement Director for the ACC (American Conference of Cantors). We know her voice and her soul will elevate our High Holiday experience.

All of our High Holiday forms are available online and can be access via the drop-down menu. We encourage you to use the online forms for the Yizkor book, Annual Fund, and extra tickets. Your High Holiday ticket and parking pass are included in the packet that was sent out. Please keep them to bring to services. If you are registering as a guest, you can get your ticket when you check in at the door.

We will have two innovative changes that we are excited to share. One is a reimagined Shofar service, created by the talented musician, Noah Aronson. The second is a slightly reimagined Yom Kippur afternoon, leading up to Yizkor and Neilah: a series of studying opportunities and/or activities from which to choose, along with an interactive Torah service.

For our personal and communal safety, a series of security arrangements will be in place during our services, including asking everyone to show their tickets. We apologize for any inconveniences, and we ask that you cooperate fully to guarantee the safest experience possible.

May 5784 be filled with blessings as we enter into another year of Jewish living.
