Seattle Association of Jewish Disabled
The Seattle Association of Jewish Disabled is in need of volunteers to act as companions to clients with mental illness and developmental disabilities. There are 3 ways volunteers can be of assistance:
1. Friendly Visitor - spend 1-on-1 time with clients doing activities such as reading, crafts, walks, lunch, gardening, etc.
2. Telephone Reassurance - phone a client a few times a week (up to every day) to check in and show that someone cares.
3. Develop Group Activities - Music, or visit from your pet, or form a gardening group, movie group, mitzvah group, discussion group (e.g. current events, religious topics, etc), art or craft group, etc.
